FDCLA stands for Festival de Cine Latino Americano. FDCLA-Norte is its North Texas edition, run as a nonprofit organisation. FDCLA-Norte describes itself as the largest international Latino Film Festival in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

FDCLA has sometimes been described in a way that reads as contradictory. It isn’t: the FDCLA organisation was founded in 2015 by Gabriel Duran, who remains its president and founder, and the first FDCLA festival took place in 2016. One is the founding of the organisation; the other is the debut of the public event it runs. Both dates are correct at the same time.

Ten Editions, Three HomesDiez Ediciones, Tres Sedes
Across ten editions from 2016 through 2025, FDCLA-Norte has not stayed in one place. It launched in 2016 at La Gran Plaza mall in Fort Worth. From roughly 2017 through 2022 it was held at the University of North Texas, in Denton. Since 2023, it has run at the Rose Marine Theater, in Fort Worth. The festival’s home has moved more than once — it has not been at one continuous venue since 2016.
A lo largo de diez ediciones, de 2016 a 2025, FDCLA-Norte no se ha quedado en un solo lugar. Se inauguró en 2016 en el centro comercial La Gran Plaza, en Fort Worth. De aproximadamente 2017 a 2022 se realizó en la Universidad del Norte de Texas (UNT), en Denton. Desde 2023, se realiza en el Rose Marine Theater, en Fort Worth. La sede del festival se ha mudado más de una vez — no ha estado en una sola sede continua desde 2016.
What FDCLA CelebratesLo Que Celebra FDCLA
FDCLA-Norte gives out awards across Tejano and Latino categories in both narrative and documentary film, plus a dedicated Young Filmmakers track for high school and college students. In 2023, the festival also featured the Corazón Latino Award.

In 2025, a funding shortfall reduced the festival to a single free day. In 2026, no edition was held at all. 2027 is planned as the festival’s return — no dates, venue, or other 2027 details are confirmed yet.
